Laila is currently a Research Assistant for Dr Jo Cutler, she holds a BSc in Human Neuroscience from the University of Birmingham and an MRes in Cognitive Neuroscience from the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience, UCL. Having worked on numerous diverse research projects, she is now interested in interdisciplinary research which combines neuroscience with topics from areas such as biomedicine, psychology and public policy. In particular she is interested in inclusive research that leverages contemporary methods from cognitive neuroscience such as computational modelling to impact human wellbeing. Outside of the lab, Laila is a big fan of Liverpool FC and cats.

Anne is a postdoctoral researcher funded by the German Research Foundation and is interested in prosocial behavior and empathy. In her current project together with Dr Lei Zhang and Prof Patricia Lockwood, she investigates social influences on how we form empathy towards others and on how we make social decisions. She completed her PhD at the University of Würzburg in Germany and holds diplomas (equivalent to a respective combined MSc and BSc) in psychology and physics from the University of Tübingen, Germany.
In general, she is interested in the computational modelling of social (decision) behavior in combination with functional magnetic-resonance imaging and in how we can make our research more open and reproducible.
Outside the lab, she enjoys exploring Birmingham’s playgrounds with her family, listening to music, travelling to places by train, and eating noodle soup.

Aamir is a PhD student funded by the MRC AIM DTP at the University of Birmingham. He is supervised by Dr. Lei Zhang and Professor Patricia Lockwood at the University of Birmingham and Professor Mark Haselgrove at the University of Nottingham. He holds a BSc in Biomedical Science from Imperial College London and an MSc in Brain Imaging from the University of Nottingham. Prior to starting his PhD, he worked as research and administrative support at the Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN) at the University of Reading.
Aamir's research applies behavioural tasks, computational modelling and neuroimaging to understand social decision-making, and using this knowledge to inform the precision-based treatment of mental health disorders. Outside of research, he is also passionate about facilitating inclusivity and diversity in academia, as well as promoting open and reproducible science.
In his free time, he enjoys playing snooker (high break of 63), travelling and exploring to new places and watching cricket.
